City of Dusk follows a ragtag group of heirs to the throne, each possessing a different kind of magic from their godly ancestor. With a morally grey protagonist, and chaotic gods bringing destruction, the four heirs will have to face the trials ahead of them. Traveling through the different worlds, and being chased by monsters across the realms, Risha, Taesia, Nikolas, and Angleica will have to find exactly what makes them special while facing off against each other and their gods.

This fantasy book had many interesting characters, but their character development takes a while to unfold. There are also good romances, but they too aren’t really seen until the second book. But the magic is very interesting, and it carries in the places where the plot fails. Overall, four out of five stars, but be warned it does get quite violent. This book is for adult fans of Percy Jackson, or the The Hunger Games.
