Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants is the fourth Captain Underpants Book by Dav Pilkey. This book starts off with a really smart scientist from a country having a great idea to solve the world's trash and hunger problems. Unfortunately, he had a silly name - Poopyants - so no one would take him seriously. But when a job opened up at an elementary school, he took it. George and Harold were at that school, and they, along with all the other kids, laughed at his name. When they wrote a cruel comic book, he couldn’t take it anymore and transformed into a giant evil robot and plotted to take over the world, shrinking everyone in the school. Will George, Harold, and Captain Underpants be able to return to their normal size and take down Professor Poopypants, or will all be lost?
This was a really funny book, and George and Harold are portrayed as really intelligent kids. I liked the small details paid attention to, like when a person read a newspaper, you could actually read everything on the front page in small font. However, in the comic books portrayed that George and Harold “wrote”, there are a lot of spelling errors - although this may be meant to seem like it was truly written by kids, if there was a child reading this book, they might end up learning incorrect spellings, which can be detrimental. Due to all this, I give this book a four out of five.
