The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a novel with elements of historical fiction and magical realism. Addie is a young woman, born in sixteenth-century France. She hates the life set out for her: never leaving the village, never seeing anything new. She refuses to resign herself to a life of marriage and children; on her wedding night, she takes a risk. By praying to the old gods who answer after dark, she falls under a curse to be forgotten forever unless she agrees to give up her soul.

You may have read Madeleine L’Engle’s most famous book, A Wrinkle in Time, which won the Newbery Medal and is still available almost everywhere, even 60 years after it was published in 1962. But you may not know about L’Engle’s “other” famous series, about the Austin family. The Moon by Night is the second book in the Austin family series. The book, which is not science fiction, focuses on the coming-of-age story of Vicky Austin, age 14.

The Pact, by Jodi Picoult, is a crime and romance fiction novel. Emily and Chris were close childhood friends, who formed a relationship in their teen years. Their families thought they would spend their lives together, until Emily ends up dead and Chris in the hospital one night. The families are shocked to hear that Emily had been shot, even more so when authorities rule it a suicide. The police suggest that Chris shot Emily, leading to a murder investigation.

Everything Everything, by Nicola Yoon, is a teen Romance/Fiction book.  Maddy is an eighteen-year-old girl who cannot leave the house. She has never been able to leave the house. However, Maddy meets a boy named Olly. He makes her want to live, breathe, and feel adventurous. But things do not happen the way Maddy wants them to. Her mother finds out about her friend, Olly.

This book follows two patients with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the respiratory system and limits contact with other patients due to fear of cross infection. Stella gets readmitted to the hospital due to lung issues, where she meets rebellious Will. Stella is not pleased with his disregard to hospital rules. Will is awaiting his eighteenth birthday so he can break free of his mother’s control over him medically. He refused to take the medicine and do the trials his mother wanted him to. Stella then convinces Will to take his meds and that sparks their romance.
