Patroclus is an awkward young prince who has been exiled from his homeland after a violent accident. They were brought together by chance but they forge an inseparable bond and incredible friendship. This book took me a total of 2 days to complete. I was delightfully surprised when I learned that this was the first published book of Madeline Miller, as I’ve read some of her other astonishing and addicting works. This story revolves around the famous Greek hero Achilles and his companion he held for most of his life- Patroclus. Rather than retelling the classic and widespread stories of Achilles’s heel, Miller took an alternative approach to the myths and lifted from the dusty covers the factor of love and friendship, in addition to the hardships and glory the hero faces.

The Adventures of Odysseus by Neil Philip is a thrilling story about the Greek hero Odysseus's journey home from the Trojan War. Odysseus being troubled by many gods along the way; the Greek mythology novel is complete with chaos and action. That said, if gods, demigods, and legendary heroes come to your liking, you won’t regret giving it a read. A truly remarkable novel in my eyes, I find it hard to beat.

Madeline Miller’s Circe is a retelling of the ancient Greek myth of a witch with the powers of transformation. Born to Helios, the Titan god of the sun yet evidently without any powers of her own, Circe has a childhood in the shadows, largely unnoticed unless harassed. She discovers her magical abilities after picking flowers grown from the blood of gods and is cast down from the halls of the gods for her offense. Stranded on an island and forbidden to leave, a cast of characters from Greek mythology enter her story.
