His most recent novel, The Improbable Theory of Ana and Zak, is a treasure trove of geeky allusions for teen readers. Ana has a perfect 4.0 GPA and a list of extracurriculars longer than your arm, and Zak is an unambitious pop-culture geek. An unlikely pair, they have to invade a sci-fi convention to find Ana’s little brother. Over the space of 24-hours the two are attacked by Vikings, attend a Star Trek/Star Wars wedding, set off a fire alarm and attend a vampire ball.

Stick around after the event to purchase a book from the Friends of the Johnson County Library and have it signed by the author.
