In the construction trades it’s known as an excavator. Around the Library we’re calling it ‘that big scoop-y thing’ and it’s hard at work on the site of the Lenexa City Center Library. Contracts have been signed and permits have been issued, and earthmoving work has begun to make room for foundations to be poured. In the lower left of the image are reflections from windows of Lenexa City Hall.
The excavator is positioned about where the lower-level restrooms will be when the new Library opens in 2019. Site prep like this will continue until later in the year, when steel will start to go up. In the meantime, the Library is partnering with Lenexa Parks and Recreation on a variety of public programs at the site. Check the web calendar for details!
