Welcome To Storytime!   [tune: Twinkle, Twinkle]

Welcome, welcome everyone,
Now we're here, let's have some fun.
First we'll sing the ABC's,
then we'll read and sing with me.
Welcome, welcome, everyone,
Now we're here let's have some fun.

Down by the Station

Down by the station early in the morning,
See the little pufferbellies all in a row.
See the station master, turn a little handle.
Puff, puff, toot, toot, off we go!

Chug, Chug, Chug [Tune:"Jingle Bells"]

Chug, chug, chug, chug, chug, chug,
Chugging down the track.
See our little choo-choo train,
Chugging down the back.
We are cars all lined up, chugging just like so.
Hear our whistle toot-toot-toot
As down the back we go.

Choo-Choo Train

This is a choo-choo train. (Bend arms at elbow)
Chugging down the track. (Rotate forearms in rhythm)
Now it's going forward. (Push arms forward)
Now it's going back. (Move arms backwards)
Now the bell is ringing. (Pull cord with closed fist)
Now the whistle blows. (Hold fist near mouth and blow)
What a lot of noise it makes (Cover ears with hands)
Everywhere it goes.

I've Been Working on the Railroad

I've been working on the railroad, all the livelong day.
I've been working on the railroad, just to pass the time away.
Can't you hear the whistle blowing, "Rise up so early in the morn."
Can't you hear the captain shouting, "Dinah won't you blow your horn."
Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow,Dinah, won't you blow your horn?
Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow,Dinah, won't you blow your horn?

Choo-choo Train Sounds

Choo, choo, choo, choo, choo (rub palms together in circular motion to make a noise. Slowly at first, gradually increasing speed)
Too-too, too-too, too-too (keep rubbing hands fast)
Choo, choo, choo, choo (gradually slow down hand rubbing)
Ding -ding, ding-ding, ding-ding, ding-ding (stop rubbing hands)

I'm a Little Red Train (Jean Warren) [tune:"I'm a Little White Duck" ]

I'm a little red train Chugging down the track,
A little red train Going up and back.
I travel all day Going round and round,
Taking goods from town to town.
I'm a little red train Going down the track Chug -- Chug -- Chug.

The More We Read Together    [Tune: The More We Get Together]

The more we read together, together, together,
The more we read together, the better it is!
'Cause reading and singing and talking together,
Is how you learn the six skills for reading by six.
