Johnson County Developmental Supports Emerging Artists Program

Saturday, January 9 to Sunday, May 15, 2016

The JCDS Emerging Artists are a talented group of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The artists create original artwork independently, with support from staff, interns, professional mentors, and volunteer artists. The Emerging Artists earn income from the direct sale of their art at local art shows and other venues. The relationships that develop between the artists and volunteers is the motivation behind this year’s collaboration for the LOVE theme at the JCL show. This show features many mediums and different interpretations of LOVE. We hope you LOVE the show. Local volunteer artists involved in this collaborative piece are: Bob Gillpatrick, AJ Hoyt, Lee Jost, Michelle Gressel, Luke LeTourneau, and Jennifer Schumacher.

This exhibition was made possible through a partnership with InterUrban ArtHouse (IUAH), a non-profit organization creating a new hub for arts and culture in Johnson County, Kansas. IUAH’s mission is to enrich the cultural and economic vibrancy of Downtown Overland Park and surrounding community by creating a place where artists and creative industries can work and prosper in an affordable, sustainable and inclusive environment.

Reception on March 12 from 2 - 3 pm
