This Week at the Library

This week at the Library, you can join us for:

Online Bilingual Storytime – Monday, Oct 11, 10 – 10:30 a.m.  

 The whole family will enjoy this flexible Storytime. Hearing stories is a great way to spend time with your kids and help them foster a love of reading. Stories, songs, fingerplays and movement activities foster pre-reading skills. Fun for the whole family.

Moving is Learning for Preschoolers – Wednesday, Oct 13, Noon – 1 p.m.  

 A moving child is a learning child. Grounded in best practices and current research, this session helps connect the dots that link brain activity, motor and sensory development, movement, and early learning. Movement experts from Johnson County Parks & Recreation District will lead 45 minutes of activities, exercises, and games this week at Shawnee Mission Park, Shelter #5, Barkley Drive, Shawnee. Best for ages 3-6 and a caregiver.

Step-by-Step through the FAFSA – Thursday, Oct 14, 6:30  – 8 p.m.  

Register online for this program or call 913.826.4600. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the federal application necessary to get free and low-cost money for college. Join Jason Anderson, CPA, CFP®, Managing Member and Senior Consultant at Gradmetrics, as he walks line-by-line through the FAFSA form, using it to explain the ins-and-outs of the college admissions and financial aid process.

Young Adult Literary Council – Sunday, Oct 17, 2 – 3 p.m.  

Teens are invited to join the Young Adult Literary Council to share favorite books, review titles for the Library website and participate in fun activities. You can meet new people and receive volunteer credit hours for your time with us.
