Registered Kansas voters will have an opportunity to vote in a primary election beginning with advance voting July 18. Voters may see primary candidates for their designated party for national office, state office, county office as well as city precinct office. Advance voting will begin on July 18, 2026. Advance voting in person will be held for two weeks, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday-Saturday at all advance vote locations. The final day for advance voting, Monday, August 3, 2026, advance voting will be available 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Ballot drop boxes for those voting by mail in ballot are available at all Johnson County Library locations, Johnson County Northeast Offices at 6000 Lamar Ave., Mission, KS 66202 and at the Johnson County Election Office at 2101 E. Kansas City Rd., Olathe, KS 66061. Per Kansas legislature, mail in ballots must be received by 7:00 PM on August 4, 2026 to be counted. See Senate Bill 4 on KSA 25-11-32.
What about registering to vote or changing political party? Registration and party changes for the Primary Election need to be submitted by July 14, 2026. You can do it online or in person. Registration can be done in person at the Election Office, most city halls, including De Soto, Gardner and Olathe and Division of Motor Vehicles offices. Registering through the Secretary of State’s online registration is the quickest way to register online. To register online, you’ll need to have your State ID or Driver’s License number handy. If you do not have a valid Driver’s License or State ID, you will need to register with a paper form and return to the Election Office.
