Welcome to Johnson County Library! In this blog post and video, we’ll highlight some of the new features, pages and functionalities of our new website for kids and teens.
Our website offers a variety of resources and information that can help you plan a visit, find homework help or connect with others.
At the very top of our homepage, you’ll find the Hours & Locations menu that includes one-click access to branch location information or search by ZIP code for your nearest branch.
Next, let’s explore some of our navigation menus. Our Browse and Borrow menu features different ways to access our library collection including by format and audience.
The kids section includes information on the latest books, staff picks and upcoming events specifically for younger audiences. There, you will also find online resources like BookFlix and Lightbox as well as homework help resources like Brainfuse. Browse the newest titles and dive deeper into your search by utilizing the filter results categories. Filter titles to specific genres, topics, or by author and languages.
Next, our teens section is a one-stop shop for all the latest programs, events and resources for teens. Find opportunities to get involved through volunteering or work on the teen published literary magazine elementia. Need homework help or a place to study? Links to our library databases, eLearning tools and our study rooms are available at the click of a button.
Looking for something to read, watch or play? We’ve streamlined ways to find the latest titles. Browse by item type, subject, or language quickly through our highlighted lists. Further narrow your search in any of these categories by clicking the view all button and using the filter by menus. Need a recommendation? Check out some of our teen book reviews to see what your peers are reading.
The eLearning & Research menu gives direct access to all our best online resources. Our homework help page provides resources for the best homework tools for grades K through 12 and beyond. Here you will find access to things like live tutoring, test prep and writing help. Also included are several online resources that can help with research projects and homework assignments.
Under the events tab, you can search all our upcoming events as well as our OnDemand database featuring select programs. Click on the at our locations menu and use the side panel to filter events by location, audience or event type. Notice our audience menus for Kids and Family and Teen specific events.
Finally, under the Using the Library menu, you will find a lot of helpful information on topics like how to print items at our branches, book a study room or get a library card. This menu also offers quick access to elementia and the MakerSpace – a place where you can create, learn and explore.
The MakerSpace offers access to a variety of equipment and tools you can use to create projects. Equipment like 3D printers, embroidery machines and laser cutters can be reserved through this page. Check out upcoming events or watch a tutorial before your visit.
