Outreach & Partnership

Great things happen when we collaborate!

We love reaching out to our community and establishing partnerships to connect people with Library resources.

Community-Based Services

We build relationships and connect communities—sometimes underserved—with Library resources. Here are a few examples:

Incarcerated Services

Our Incarcerated Services showcase Johnson County Library’s thoughtful outreach to justice-involved community members. We provide a dedicated Incarcerated Services Librarian offering in-person Library office hours twice weekly at Johnson County Department of Corrections campuses including the Adult Residential Center and the Juvenile Detention Center. Patrons can check out books onsite and enjoy a welcoming library setting.

Educators Services

We believe that partnering with Educators and Homeschoolers is one of the most effective ways to help children and teens grow academically, establish a lifelong love of reading as well as develop critical thinking skills.

We provide a diverse suite of services: digital resources, enhanced lending privileges via Educator Cards, classroom and outreach tools for teachers, plus curated support, programming, and materials to assist and engage students of all ages in any classroom setting. Language Learners

We have a broad commitment to helping Language Learners of all levels, experience and backgrounds. Through a suite of free language tools—including Rosetta Stone, and Mango Languages—patrons can develop their listening, speaking, reading, and comprehension skills at their own pace. Additionally, the Library offers volunteer-supported English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring and basic adult education in both one-on-one and small-group formats. Our Language Learners page provides powerful online resources and locally supported, human-centered learning opportunities—making language learning accessible, supportive, and flexible for everyone.
