HomeConnect is a free service for Johnson County Library cardholders who live in our service area but can't visit the Library in person—whether for a temporary or long-term reason. If you're homebound, we'll mail Library materials directly to you.

  • Use the Library catalog or call us at (913) 826-4600.
  • Make sure your preferred pickup location is set to Central Resource Library.
  • Materials will be mailed to you in reusable blue canvas bags. Delivery via Media Mail typically takes 2–10 days.

Loan Periods & Renewals

  • Enjoy a 5-week loan period to allow time for mail delivery and return.
  • Most items can be renewed up to 6 times, as long as no one else is waiting.

Due Dates & Fees

  • Johnson County Library is a fine-free system, so there are no late fines. Read more about our fine-free policy in our FAQs.
  • You're responsible only for lost or damaged items.
  • If your account balance reaches $50 or more, borrowing and holds will be paused until the balance is paid.
  • $10 non-refundable fee is added if part of the balance has been overdue for 30+ days. Call us—we're happy to help resolve account issues.

Returning Items

  • Place items back in the blue bag (the same bag in which they were received), flip the address label so the Library's address shows, and leave it for your postal carrier.
  • Additional bags cannot be sent to facilitate returns.
  • Please do not leave bags outside in bad weather.
