Library Projects

Current Projects

A few of our older branches are undergoing exciting transformations to better serve the community and meet evolving needs. Renovation and expansion projects are now underway at the De Soto and Spring Hill Libraries, with design efforts rooted in community feedback and focused on enhancing functionality, technology, and gathering spaces.

In addition to these exciting projects, planning is in progress for a new facility to replace the aging Corinth Library, one of the system’s oldest branches. This project is a continuation of the Library’s long-term vision—our Comprehensive Library Master Plan (CLMP).

These Library projects all share the goal of creating welcoming, modern environments that support lifelong learning, connection, and access to resources for all.

De Soto Library

The exterior of De Soto Library will receive a refreshed facade and new, back-lit signage and improvements to the surrounding sidewalk area, including landscaping and seating. Inside, the building will be refreshed with new finishes and furniture. Spaces for kids and adults will be relocated to the front of the building to take advantage of natural light and large windows. In response to community input, a new study and conference room will be added.

Spring Hill Library

Spring Hill Library will expand by 1,000 square feet, creating a brighter, more spacious setting for Library services. Renovations include creating and improving gathering spaces, updating technology that will house the children’s collection and a 6 by 6: Ready to Read early literacy space.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows will look onto a new patio just off the relocated front entrance. The current Library footprint will house adult and nonfiction collections, public computers, copy/print stations and new meeting room and study rooms. Updates include new carpeting, paint and furniture. Our convenient curbside pickup will recommence when Spring Hill reopens.

Corinth Library Replacement Study

The Library Board has prioritized the development of a replacement facility for Corinth Library as our next large-scale capital project, with design expected to begin in 2026. Funding for the Corinth Library replacement has already been allocated through the Comprehensive Library Master Plan, which was approved in 2015 as a framework to guide the Library’s sustainable growth of services, operations and facilities. This means residents will not see a tax increase to pay for a new Library.
