The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a young adult novel. Tobias Hawthorne, a billionaire, dies and instead of leaving his fortune to his blood relatives, he leaves it to Avery Grambs, an ordinary teenager. In order to claim her inheritance, Avery must move into his mansion which is filled with secret passages and riddles. The twist is that the relatives of Tobias Hawthorne, who all thought they would inherit his fortune, have to live in the mansion too. Avery now has to solve the mystery on why Tobias Hawthorne trusted her and left her his whole fortune, while exploring the secrets the mansion hides. Additionally, she must face the threats of his family members who would do anything to make Avery not claim her inheritance.
I thought this book was really good. It was such a compelling book and will definitely get you out of a reading slump. I loved how there was a mystery in this book while also being quirky. It is such a good book and flows really nicely. I liked reading about all the characters' relationships and their pasts. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! Overall, I rate this book a five out of five.
