Beautiful Disaster is a perfect example of a book for the ever-rising category of new adult fiction. New adult fiction is a developing genre of fiction with protagonists in the 18-25 age bracket. Abby Abernathy is a good girl from Wichita. She comes to Eastern University with her best friend America to get away from her past. In the very first scene, Abby encounters Travis Maddox as she watches him in a fight that's part of the college's hidden underworld gambling scene. Abby soon learns that Travis is a "one-night stand" kind of guy with a horrible reputation around campus, so she tries her hardest to stay far away. This is harder than she thinks because America is dating Travis' roommate and cousin, Shepley. And Travis has made it his new mission in life to become close to Abby. Trying to stay just friends with Travis becomes next to impossible, as their attraction becomes stronger and she gets to know Travis as more than just a tattooed bad boy. As she lets her guard down and they start to fall in love, stronger forces come into play that threaten their relationship. Abby's past comes back to haunt her. And Travis' anger is proving too much for Abby to handle. Can their relationship with each other be anything other than a disaster? This book is an emotional roller-coaster ride that will not leave you disappointed.
