Divergent is a dystopian novel about Beatrice Prior. She is 16 and has to make a decision that will change her life. She could choose to stay with her family, and lead a dull life serving others, or she could forge her own path, one that would alienate her from those she loves and throw her into the claws of danger. On the day she is to choose, her choice shocks everyone but somehow satisfies her. Soon, she realizes that her secrets can hurt her if they ever slip out.

The Cruel Prince is a coming of age trilogy written by Holly Black which follows Jude Duarte. The first novel follows Jude as she tries to find her place in Faerie. Throughout the novel, she will do anything to reach her goal which in turn, forms unlikely partnerships. This novel has elements of cruelty and romance. For someone who's looking for lots of romance, this is probably not the book for you, unless you want to commit to the whole series. I would rate this book a 4.2 out of 5 as it is very plot heavy.

Through the Dark is a collection of stories that were mentioned (but not explained) in the Darkest Minds trilogy. I feel like I was a bit too critical going into this book as I don’t really like side-books to series, but this collection of stories was actually very good. The stories included in this collection are like actual stories from minor (but also kind of huge) gaps in the series.

The Ship of the Dead is the third and final book in the Magnus Chase series and is written by Rick Riordan. In this book, Magnus Chase is in the Viking afterlife Valhalla, where he prepares for the world ending Norse event of Ragnarok. I loved the first two books in this series, so I had a lot of expectations placed on the finale, and I have to say that the book surpassed my expectations. Just like the first two books, this book masterfully manages the humorous tone with the tense feelings of saving the world.

The Hammer of Thor is the second book in the Magnus Chase series and is written by Rick Riordan. In the previous book, Magnus and his friends learn that Thor has misplaced his famous hammer, but it’s not given much thought because it’s a common habit of his. However, it becomes a big issue when it’s learned that Thor’s hammer has fallen into enemy hands. In this book, Magnus and his friends must find the hammer quickly or else the mortal worlds will be destroyed by an army of giants.

The Sword Of Summer is the first book in the Magnus Chase series and is written by Rick Riordan. In this book, readers are introduced to Magnus Chase, a homeless teenager who lost his mother a few years ago and hangs around with his two friends (and for Percy Jackson fans, he’s the cousin to Annabeth Chase). Magnus’s life is flipped outside down when he learns that his father is a Norse god, and that he needs to go on a mission to retrieve his dad’s weapon to save the world. To do that, he needs to die.
