I decided to start reading this series after seeing the trailer for the movie that came out that was based on the first book in this series. I’m glad that I did, as I really enjoyed this book! It’s set in a dystopian setting where a mutation has broken out in the US, causing both younger and older children to either die or gain special powers. The government deems those with powers as dangerous and makes parents send the children to “rehabilitation camps” that are supposed to “train” the kids and make sure the kids aren’t dangerous.

Slaughterhouse-5 is an incredibly well-written novel and one of my favorite works by Kurt Vonnegut. In his novel, he explores the meaning of life (and no, I’m not kidding), World War II, time travel, and more. Slaughterhouse-5 is brilliant and complex, but not hard to understand. Vonnegut introduces serious themes of war and violence and approaches them in his writing with a humorous tone.

Dune Messiah is the second book in the Dune series written by Frank Herbert. I am a big fan of the first Dune because of its huge sci-fi scope mixed in with politics and religion that can be seen in the world today as well. The novel revolves around a mysterious substance that could change the balance of power in the Solar System, the Protomolecle.
We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson is a moving sci-fi novel about identity, romance, and family. It follows unpopular high schooler Henry Denton struggling to cope after his boyfriend commits suicide. He has supposedly been abducted by aliens his whole life, and they give him an ultimatum: the world is going to end, and he can stop it if he presses a button. However, he can’t decide whether or not to.
Winter, the final book in the Lunar Chronicles, was just as amazing as I expected it would be! In this book, we finally find out all the secrets behind the royal Lunar family and the history of Cinder! We get introduced to one more important character, Winter, who is the princess of Luna who has Lunar sickness (makes her mad/crazy) because she refuses to use her Lunar gift on others.
The Lunar Chronicles does it again! The third book in this series, Cress, did not disappoint any of my expectations. This book was based on Rapunzel, and I loved how everything tied together in the end! We end up meeting (in more detail) Cress, a lunar trapped/kept in a satellite above Earth, who is an amazing hacker working for Queen Levana.
