Children get ready to read long before they start school. This workshop for childcare providers uses new and classic children’s books plus 6 by 6, Ready to Read, the Library’s research-based early literacy initiative, to show how to create a literacy-rich environment that engages children with language and stories. KDHE clock hour credit certificates will be provided to attendees.

LGBTQ-identified youth are more likely than their peers to face increased risks of violence, homelessness and substance abuse. This session helps you gain a deeper understanding of these challenges and introduces you to some fundamentals of helping LGBTQ young people cope and thrive. Sandwiches and  sides will be served starting at 5:30 pm.
