This film tells the intriguing story of African-American women’s social clubs in the Kansas City area during the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s, focusing on the impact of these clubs in a time when segregation was the rule. These social clubs played an integral role in the life and well-being of Kansas City’s African-American community through their activities, volunteerism and social activism.
