The Johnson County Library will host several winter author programs that will provide attendees an opportunity to learn about the writing process and to interact with authors who will discuss their published works.
Celebrate Kansas' 150th Birthday with author Andrea Warren
Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011; 2 p.m.
Cedar Roe Library
Award-winning author Andrea Warren will help us celebrate Kansas’ 150th birthday. KS achieved statehood at the threshold of the Civil War- one of the most contentious periods of American history. As in all war, children were often caught up in the mayhem. Warren takes us back to the time of “Bleeding Kansas” and the wars along the Kansas-Missouri border and then on to the little town of Vicksburg, Mississippi, the setting of her most recent book, Under Siege!: Three Children at the Civil War Battle for Vicksburg. Children ages 8 and up, parents, and grandparents will enjoy this intergenerational program--and birthday cake too! The author’s books will be available for sale and autographing. Registration begins January 15. Register online or call (913) 826-4600.
