News Release: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Johnson County Library Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009

In conjunction with National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) the Johnson County Library will host the Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oak Park Library, 9500 Bluejacket, Overland Park, Kan.  The community is invited to attend and experience the Latin-American culture through art, music, poetry, dress, dance and crafts. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.

Performances
11 a.m. – Taqui Sisacuna Dance Troupe of Peru
11:45 a.m. – Poetry reading from the Latino Writers
12:30 p.m. – Ruben Pascottine – Paraguayan Pianist
1:15 p.m. – Ole! Flamenco Dancers
2:15 p.m. – Traditional Mexican Dress Show & Dances with the Ballet Folklorico of Kansas City

12 – 3 p.m. Explore the countries of Latin America
12 – 3 p.m. Children’s games and crafts on the playground
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Graffiti art mural with Hip Hop Academy
12 – 2 p.m. Refreshments
