Monday, July 6th, over 160 kids, teens and adults in full Harry Potter regalia rocked the Central Resource Library at PotterCast, a popular Harry Potter podcast, featuring The Whomping Willows and The Remus Lupins. They started lining up at 3 p.m. to attend the PotterCast hosted event and dance to their favorite wizard rock bands. The evening started a little after 6 p.m. with a trivia round lead by PotterCast hosts John Noe and Frankie Franko III. Contestants won posters and door hangers for answering questions about Harry and his friends.
The volume was set at 11 for a rocking performance from The Whomping Willows, led by singer/song writer Matt Maggiacomo, which included a crowd participation song that got everyone moving. PotterCast continued with an even more grueling trivia section, culminating in a contest to correctly spell Dumbledore's full name (Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore--quite a mouthful!). The night wrapped up with a performance by The Remus Lupins, featuring Alex Carpenter on vocals and lead guitar, Tyler Nicholas on bass, and Toby Karlin on drums and saxophone. The crowd stayed until the library closed to chat with the bands and get autographs. Everyone left humming their favorite songs from the night, ready to see the newest installment of the Harry Potter movies, premiering next Wednesday, July 15.
