A Johnson County Library Issues and Engagement Forum: The Kansas-Nebraska Act
In 1854 President Franklin Pierce faced a critical choice, one that would determine the fate of his presidency and have a profound impact on the future of the United States. Should he support the Kansas-Nebraska proposal, which gave local settlers the right to determine whether or not slavery would be permitted? How would you advise President Pierce?

Farewell

The time has come for me to say goodbye.  I'm leaving Johnson County Library for a new position in Texas.  I've had a wonderful three years here as the Community Engagement Librarian and those of you who participated in our programs over the years are a big part of what I have loved most about my work here.

I hope you'll give my successor and the library your full support in the years ahead as this unique and important program continues.  Come to the programs, give us your event ideas, get out there in the community and then tell us what you did!  It's all about the community, after all.

Best wishes to each and every one of you -

Lisa
