History of Leawood LibraryThe need for a library to serve the portion of Johnson County between State Line Road and Metcalf south of I-435 was first noted in the 1979 Johnson County Library facilities plan. The area was rapidly developing with both residential areas and retail/commercial space. Ten years later planning for a library in the area was underway with the 1990 facilities plan calling for opening a building in 1992. Read on »

Petitioning Zone

click to enlarge petioning zone diagramPetitioners and protestors must stay inside the petitioning zone and must not interfere with patrons entering the building. This zone ensures patron safety and prevents sidewalk traffic congestion. The selected placement of the zone maximizes exposure of petitioners to patrons. Petitioners or protesters who cannot abide by these rules will be asked to leave the premises. We appreciate your cooperation. The designated petitioning zone is shaded in green in the diagram to the left. Please notice this zone is located southeast of the entrance, but not under the covered area.
