Writing resumes

Presenting yourself on paper in the form of a resume is your first foot in the door. Should you use a chronological or skills-based resume? What is the best way to represent special situations such as gaps due to child-rearing, no college education or an incomplete degree? These tools can help:

Writing cover letters

The cover letter is often overlooked in the effort to perfect one’s resume. Even when sending your resume electronically via e-mail or a Web form, the inclusion of a carefully written cover letter makes you look professional and organized. A cover letter is also a great way to highlight items not included in your resume, express your interest in a job and showcase your knowledge about the company.
