The Metamorphosis

Franz Kafka , 1915

Kafka's The Metamorphosis is both harrowing and amusing, and a landmark of modern literature. Considered one of the most terrifying stories ever written, the story introduces us to Gregor Samsa, the young many who wakes up to find himself transformed into a gigantic insect. Kafka's nightmarish novella has come to symbolize modern man's anxiety and alienation in a bizarre, hostile, and dehumanized world.

It's also available at the Johnson County Library as a free downloadable audiobook. Download the audiobook version.
